We’re always told to ditch the sugary drinks but what if water just ain’t cutting it? Surely there must be a more interesting option that’s still good for us? I was lucky enough to partner with the team at SodaStream and come up with four delicious drinks that are low in sugar but high in flavour and are so much healthier than alcohol or soft drinks.
Hydration and Health
Drinking fluids is crucial for good health and the maintenance of pretty much every cellular function in the body from heart health to brain and muscles. Fluids carry vital nutrients to our cells, flush bacteria from our bladder and prevent constipation. The average adult needs around 1-3L per day of water and an extra Litre for every hour of exercise undertaken.
Unfortunately high sugar soft drink consumption is on the rise according to the World Health Organisation, and this has been linked to conditions such as tooth decay, obesity and heart disease. Finding drinks that taste good, help to combat those mindless snacking moments but are still good for us can be difficult. Having simple to make, affordable and delicious drinks can do wonders for our health, and our waistlines!

Four Delicious Sparkling Drinks to Try
Cucumber mint and lime spritzer
Five Thinly sliced cucumber discs
Two lime quarters
Sprig of mint
Fill glass ¾ with ice. Press cucumber discs between glass and ice. Juice one quarter lime over ice, place other quarter in glass, add SodaStream sparkling water and sprig of mint. Enjoy!
Peach, Basil and Passionfruit Punch
Five thinly sliced peach wedges
Sprig of basil
Fill glass ¾ with ice. Add peach wedges and SodaStream sparkling water. Top with passionfruit and garnish with sprig of basil. Enjoy!
Rosemary and Grapefruit Sparkling Kombucha
Two sliced grapefruit discs (one thin one thick)
30ml SodaStream organic Kombucha syrup
Fill glass ¾ with ice. Juice the thick grapefruit wedge, discarding wedge. Add SodaStream sparkling water and Kombucha. Slice a small opening in the skin of thin grapefruit disc and wedge into glass. Add sprig of rosemary. Enjoy!
Blueberry and Orange Highball
Tbsp fresh blueberries
Slice two thin discs from the orange, then quarter those discs (to make little orange triangles). Fill glass ¾ with ice, then squeeze remaining orange juice over ice. Place orange triangles between the glass and ice. Add SodaStream sparkling water. Top with blueberries. Enjoy!
