Do Wearables Improve our Fitness Experience?

As a personal trainer, I never thought technology could replace the face to face connection of two people. But when it comes to fitness I have to say my opinion has changed. No longer do I believe that a face to face PT session is going to always be a better experience than one delivered online. It sounds shocking, especially coming from someone who loves the PT industry and who has been one for over 17 years! But I believe it to be true. I have seen countless results come from people who are using pocket technology, cobbling together their own workouts and getting great results!

Don’t get me wrong, there are some AMAZING trainers out there, who do deliver a better service than online, but I don’t believe we have the breadth of trainers available to really make a huge difference to our obesity epidemic. A small dent, yes. A global one, no. Digital technology on the other hand has a broader reach, is more economical (think of all the free apps and workouts available), and is more readily available.

I believe a winning formula is when trainers partner with technology to bring it to life. To add that extra layer of accountability and to keep clients motivated when their devices wont.

    Great video/article Amelia, I agree that combining training partners and technology are a strong key to life long fitness and success! Just consider how it could change the focus of people to preventative heath by being aware of their health status and taking action to correct potential health issues before it’s to late.
