Guest post and recipe by my resident nutrition expert, Steph from The Natural Nutritionist.

This is my idea of heaven. A raw dessert that’s packed full of nutrients, requires minimal ingredients and is ready in minutes. I bet you even have all the ingredients ready to go in your pantry.

Nutritionally, what I love about this dish is that it’s high in good fats and refined sugar-free, both of which act as a natural portion control. You’re still going to need a little willpower, but what you will avoid is a blood sugar spike and the associated energy crash, cravings, over indulging and guilt. Real food is good like that.

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 1 x 400ml can full fat coconut cream
  • ½ avocado
  • 1 banana
  • 2 tablespoons raw cacao
  • 1 pinch sea salt
  • Cacao nibs, for topping

  1. Blend all ingredients except for cacao nibs until smooth.
  2. Chill in the fridge before serving. Top with cacao nibs and enjoy.

Tried it and it was FOUL! maybe cottage cheese instead of avocado? Even tried some stevia and cinnamon to try and get rid of the taste but it was still terrible.. Not recommended.

Hi Jules, oh so sorry to hear yours didn’t turn out right. Avocado is the main ingredient, so definitely keep that ingredient but maybe next time try to not put the coconut cream. Just avocado, cacao, honey or agave and some cinnamon – coconut cream can make it a little thick and heavy (also depends on what kind you use), so perhaps that’s what made yours foul-tasting. Let me know if you try it again. x
